The increase in the number of attacks has occurred in all areas, but is especially salient with regard to Gaza-based attacks (50 attacks as opposed to 18 in February), where a significant leap in high-trajectory launchings towards Israel had taken place, including the launching of Grad rockets towards Ashkelon and Be'er Sheva.
In the Jerusalem area 42 attacks were executed in March (20 in February), and in the Judea and Samaria area: 36 attacks (as opposed to 23 in February).
March has seen 6 fatalities: 5 family members had been murdered in a stabbing attack in Itamar (March 12), and a tourist was killed in an explosive device attack in Jerusalem.
27 Israelis were injured, 23 in the above mentioned attack in Jerusalem, 2 in mortar shell and rocket launching attacks (March 19, 23), and one casualty – an Israeli security officer – as a result of object / stone throwing in Judea (March 25).

Throughout March 2011, 38 rockets and 87 mortar shells were launched towards Israel (in 47 attacks) compared to 6 rockets and 19 mortar shells in February 2011 (in 14 attacks).
