February 2012 has seen a significant increase in the number of attacks compared to January: 100 attacks, as opposed to 56 in January.

The rise in the number of attacks is noted in all areas. The increase in Gaza-based attacks (31 attacks,15 in January) is also due to an increase in rocket launchings against Israel: 36 launchings compared to 9 in January.

In the areas of Judea Samaria and Jerusalem most attacks are in the form of firebombs. The rise in attacks according to area: Judea and Samaria - 42 attacks, as opposed to 27 in January; Jerusalem - 27 attacks, as opposed to 14 in January.

 

Terrorist attacks conducted this month resulted in two injuries: one Israeli citizen (February 10) as a result of rocket launchings towards Israel; and a foreign reporter (February 14) was wounded by firebomb in Jerusalem.

 

 

Data regarding terror attacks in February 2012

Following is a regional distribution of attacks:

 

31 attacks in the Gaza Strip (15 in January); 42 attacks in the Judea and Samaria (27 in January); 27 attacks in Jerusalem (14 in January).

Jerusalem and the Judea and Samaria area: Most attacks executed in February (67 out of 69) were in the form of firebombs (January: 39 out of 41).

 

 

Distribution of attacks according to regions and pattern profile:

Following is a distribution of attacks in February 2012 according to regions:

 

The Gaza Strip – 31 attacks: 27 rocket launchings; 1 mortar shell launching; 1 explosive device; 1 small arms shooting; 1 AT launching.

 

Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem – 69 attacks: 2 explosive devices; 67 firebombs (27 in Jerusalem).

 

 

High-trajectory launchings from the Gaza Strip

Throughout February 2012, 36 rockets and 1 mortar shells were launched towards Israel (in 28 attacks), compared to 9 rockets and 7 mortar shells in January (in 14 attacks).
