The main increase is in attacks emanating from the Gaza Strip: 157 attacks, compared to 31 in February. The surge in the number of attacks was brought about by the escalation in southern Israel; during the recent round of violence more than 200 rockets and mortar shells were fired towards Israel.
Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem maintained a similar level of attacks: 43 attacks (compared to 42 in February) in Judea and Samaria, and 29 attacks in Jerusalem (compared to 27 in February).
Six persons were inured in terrorist attacks conducted this month: two security personnel by a stabbing attack in Judea (March 8) and Jerusalem (March 15) and four foreign workers (March 10) as a result of rocket launchings towards Israel.
