January 2012 has seen a decrease in the number of attacks compared to December 2011: 56 attacks, as opposed to 81 in December.
The decline is especially salient in the number of attacks coming from the Gaza Strip: 15 attacks (compared to 30 in December) as well as in the number of attacks in the Jerusalem area: 14 attacks (compared to 25 in December).

A similar level of attacks has been maintained in Judea and Samaria: 27 attacks in January, compared to 26 in December.

Terrorist attacks conducted this month did not result in any casualties.

 

 

 

Data regarding terror attacks in January 2012

Following is a regional distribution of attacks:

 

15 attacks in the Gaza Strip (30 in December); 27 attacks in the Judea and Samaria (26 in December); 14 attacks in Jerusalem (25 in December).

 

Jerusalem and the Judea and Samaria area: Most attacks executed in January (39 out of 41) were in the form of firebombs (December: 48 out of 51). 

 

 

 

Distribution of attacks according to regions and pattern profile:

Following is a distribution of attacks in January 2012 according to regions:

 

The Gaza Strip – 15 attacks: 9 rocket launchings; 5 mortar shell launchings; 1 explosive device.

 

Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem – 41 attacks: 1 explosive device; 1 small arms shooting; 39 firebombs (14 in Jerusalem).

 

 

High-trajectory launchings from the Gaza Strip

Throughout January 2012, 9 rockets and 7 mortar shells were launched towards Israel (in 14 attacks), compared to 30 rockets and 11 mortar shells in December 2011 (in 30 attacks).
