Weekly Update - November 19, 2008
|
|
This week there occurred an escalation in the high trajectory weapon attacks from the Gaza Strip into Israel. Rocket firing towards Sderot and Ashkelon on November 14 and 16 were especially prominent attacks, which resulted in the wounding of 16 civilians. According to Palestinian sources this was a response to Israeli activity, viz. IDF activity carried out on the evening between November 4th and 5th, which exposed a tunnel intended for the purpose of a large terror attack within Israel. An additional and significant attack this week was a shooting attack in Samaria (November 17), during which an Israeli citizen was lightly wounded.
