The number of terror attacks in September increased: 88 attacks as opposed to 58 in August. The increase in the number of attacks is salient in the area of Jerusalem (31 attacks as opposed to 9 in August). The increase is accompanied by the increasing tension in Silwan neighborhood, located near the Old City. There is also an increase in Gaza-based attacks (38 as opposed to 29 in August), mainly high-trajectory launchings of rockets and mortar shells. The Judea and Samaria area maintains a similar number of attacks (19 as opposed to 20 in August).
In September, there were no fatalities in terror attacks. Six Israelis (five citizens and one security forces officer) were injured in two shooting attacks in Judea (four wounded), and as a result of fire bomb throwings in Samaria and Jerusalem; as opposed to four Israelis killed and two wounded in August.
 

Data regarding casualties in terror attacks
Six Israelis were injured as a result of terror attacks in September. Details are as follows
:

  • September 1 – two Israeli citizens are injured in a shooting attack at Rimonim croosroad, near Kokhav HaShahar (Judea).
  • September 2 – one female Israeli citizen is wounded by a fire bomb throwing in Samaria.
  • September 23 – one security forces officer is wounded by a fire bomb throwing in Jerusalem.
  • September 26 – two Israeli citizens are wounded in a shooting attack near Teneh Omarim in Southern Mt. Hebron (Judea).

 

 

Data regarding terrorist attacks in September 2010
September demonstrated an increase in the number of attacks as opposed to August: 88 attacks as opposed to 58 in August.

 

The increase is prominent mainly in the area of Jerusalem: 31 attacks (as opposed to 9 in August) due to the tension in Silwan neighborhood, located near the Old City. The Gaza Strip has also shown an increase in the number of attacks: 39 attacks compared to 29 in August. The increase is mainly in the number of launchings of rockets and mortar shells.

 

The Judea and Samaria area maintains a similar number of attacks, 19 in September (compared to 20 in August).

Following is a regional distribution of attacks: 19 in the Judea and Samaria area (compared to 20 in August), 38 in the Gaza Strip (29 in August), and 31 in Jerusalem (as opposed to 9 in August).

The Judea and Samaria area and Jerusalem – most of the attacks (43 out of 50) were in the form of Molotov cocktail throwing (28 out of 29 in August).

Following is a distribution of attacks in September according to regions:

 

The Gaza Strip – 38 attacks (29 in August): 16 rocket launchings, 14 mortar shell launchings, 5 small arms shootings, 1 AT launching, and 2 other.

 

Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem – 50 attacks (29 in August): 4 explosive devices, 2 small arms shooting, 1 grenade throwing, 43 Molotov cocktail throwing (31 in Jerusalem).

 

 

High-trajectory launchings from the Gaza Strip
Throughout September 2010, 16 rockets and 23 mortar shells were launched towards Israel (in 30 attacks) compared to 14 rockets and 17 mortar shells in August (in 19 attacks).
