As for the number of victims of terrorism – a police officer was killed and 2 others were injured in a shooting attack in south Mt. Hebron (Judea). Two border patrol officers were injured in a run-over attack in Jerusalem, as opposed to 6 injured in May.
Data regarding Casualties in Terrorist Attacks
In June, an Israeli police officer was killed and 2 others were injured (June 14) in a shooting attack aimed at their patrol car driving in the south Mt. Hebron area.
In addition, 2 border patrol officers were injured (June 11) in a run-over attack in Jerusalem.
In May 2010, however, 6 people were injured (2 citizens and 4 members of the Israeli forces) in shooting attacks in Judea and the area around the Gaza Strip, and in Molotov cocktail throwings in Jerusalem.

June presents a similar number of attacks as in May: 62 as opposed to 63 in May. The number of attacks in Jerusalem has decreased (7 as opposed to 14 in May), whereas in the Gaza Strip and in the Judea and Samaria an increase has been noted (the Gaza Strip – 34 as opposed to 32 in May; the West Bank – 21 as opposed to 17).
Following is a regional distribution of attacks:
21 in the West Bank (as opposed to 17 in May); 34 in the Gaza Strip (as opposed to 32 in May), and 7 attacks in Jerusalem (as opposed to 14 in May).
In the Judea and Samaria area and Jerusalem – most of the attacks (24 out of 28) were in the form of Molotov cocktail or object/stone throwing (28 out of 31 in May).

Following is a distribution of attacks in June according to regions:
The Gaza Strip – 34 attacks (as opposed to 32 last month): 13 rocket launchings, 9 mortar shell launchings, 7 light arms shootings, 2 AT launchings, and 3 explosive devices attacks.
The Judea and Samaria and Jerusalem – 28 attacks (as opposed to 31 in May): 2 explosive devices, one shooting attack, one run-over attack, 2 object/stone throwing, and 22 Molotov cocktail throwings (5 in Jerusalem).
High-trajectory launchings from the Gaza Strip
Throughout June 2010, 14 rockets and 17 mortar shells were launched** towards Israel (in 22 attacks) as opposed to 14 rockets and 7 mortar shells in May (in 17 attacks).
A Quarterly Analysis of AttacksAs one can see, the second quarter (April-June) of 2010 shows a decline in the number of the Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem-based attacks compared to the first quarter (January-March), as opposed to the increase in Gaza Strip-based attacks.
During the first quarter, the number of Gaza Strip-based attacks was 81 (January – 32, February – 13, March – 36) as opposed to 91 during the second quarter (April – 25, May – 32, June – 34).
The Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem show a reverse tendency:
- The Judea and Samaria – 136 attacks during the first quarter (January – 37, February – 37, March – 62) as opposed to 63 during the second quarter (April – 25, May – 17, June – 21).
- Jerusalem – 41 attacks during the first quarter (January – 11, February – 3, March – 27) as opposed to 27 during the second quarter (April – 6, May – 14, June – 7).
